Need your thoughts! – Elgin Consultation update

Update (October): The consultation has ended on 6th September 2023. Hammerwich Parish Council (“The Council”) has received overwhelmed comments in objection to an electricity storage facility to be built near Lions Den. In the view of this, the Council will submit objection shall there be a planning application being established in the future. The feedback from this consultation will be kept in file for future reference. Thank you all for sharing your views with us.

The Council needs your thoughts on a potential electricity storage facility to be built on Lions Den.

Elgin Energy are exploring the possibility of obtaining planning permission to build an electricity storage facility on fields west of Lions Den. The 10 acres of Greenbelt land they have been offered, are fields cornered by the disused railway line and the M6 Toll, facing the A5.

100-megawatt facility would consist of 70 x 14 meter containers containing Lithium-Ion Batteries, and 35 inverters containers throughout the site.

On Thursday 27^th July, Elgin Energy held an informal consultation of the proposals at the Ashmole Club, where many residents attended. Elgin Energy consultation feedback forms were available for completion, which they will use if/when preparing a planning application.
